Let’s not make it weird. We’ve heard it all, talking about money is ‘taboo’, ‘tacky’ or even ‘vulgar.’ While we’re not going to do a complete product breakdown on this blog, we do want to touch on how we arrive at our pricing. We think it’s important for you to know.

Like we said in our previous blog post, why Cali Woodworks LA?, we know our big box competitors and we know their prices. We also know why they can price their products at the rates they do. Part of it has to do with Ford-style manufacturing, robots, irresponsible wood sourcing, lack of commitment to sustainability, and mass production. So romantic.

Surprise, surprise none of those factors play into how we arrive at our prices. Let’s get into it- Cali Woodworks LA focuses on pricing our items based on 5 main factors; labor (time spent making a piece), material cost (i.e., lumber [see more on lumber costs here], type of wood, ornamental & functional piece add-ons), shipping costs, shipping supply costs, and small business competitor pricing. Talk about transparency.

We stand by each of our pieces and know that with proper care, they can become family heirlooms. When you buy from Cali Woodworks LA you are supporting a small local business whose drive, passion and complete care goes into absolutely everything we do. You can’t put a price on the magic we feel stepping into the shop on a brisk LA morning, the serenity we feel when a project is complete, and the joy we feel when our craft lands in your hands.
